Add Text to Video Free

Most people watch with the sound off. A caption burned into the picture is the one thing you can count on being seen.

Burned-in text also survives being re-uploaded, downloaded and re-shared, which platform caption tracks do not.

FAQ

Why burn text in instead of using the platform's captions?

Because platform captions are metadata. Download the video, re-upload it, or send it to someone in a message, and they are gone. Burned-in text is part of the picture, so it goes everywhere the video goes.

Can I add several captions at different times?

Not in this version - it puts one line across the whole clip. Timed captions across a sequence are what we are building next.

Which characters are supported?

English and the Western European accented characters, plus curly quotes and dashes. The font is deliberately a small subset so the tool loads fast. Other alphabets are not covered yet.
